About your therapist

a little introduction…

Hello! I’m Jags,

and welcome to my website! I’m so glad you’re here…

Hello, and welcome to my website! My name is Jags, and I am a BAAT-registered Art Therapist with years of experience in the industry. I use psychotherapy to help individuals and groups of all ages improve their mental health, process trauma through self-expression, nurture relationships, and ultimately heal. I have a person-centered approach which means that I provide a safe, non-judgmental space for the client to explore their thoughts and emotions, and encourage them to lead the conversation rather than directing it themselves.

I work with a diverse range of clients, from young children to older adults through a wide range of mental health issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment, autism, loss, fostering, domestic violence, and more. My services also include life story work and dyadic therapy to treat the parent(s) and child simultaneously. I am also DSL trained (Designated Safeguarding Lead).

What happens in an art therapy session?

some quick insights…

Art therapy sessions provide individuals with a confidential, safe, and supportive environment to explore their emotions and experiences, develop coping skills, and work toward their therapeutic goals. A session usually begins with a discussion to establish goals for the session and the overall therapy process. I may ask about current emotional states, experiences, and challenges as well as some background information to gain a deeper understanding.

Once the goals and objectives for the session are established we can begin to explore various art mediums to tangibly explore the areas of discussion further. I am there to support and guide, focusing on the creative process, rather than the final product.

At the end of the session, we may reflect on the artwork and the insights gained during the session as well as creative suggestions or activities to do in between sessions to further support the journey towards healing.

Life-story work

and find the answers to some of your questions

Life story work is a therapeutic process that involves helping individuals to explore, share, and make sense of their personal histories. This may involve creating a narrative or visual representation of their life experiences, including significant events, relationships, and personal beliefs.

Life story work can be used in various therapeutic settings, such as counseling, psychotherapy, and social work, and may be particularly helpful for individuals who have experienced trauma, loss, or other significant life challenges. By helping individuals to reflect on and process their life experiences, life story work can support personal growth, emotional healing, and increased resilience.
